The Delmont Pilgrimage relies on volunteers. To begin your volunteer journey with us, please scroll down to the volunteer form below & submit your contact info.
Are you handy with tools? Do you like to be in the spotlight? Do you enjoy organizing behind-the-scenes details? At the Delmont Pilgrimage, we are blessed by volunteers with various talents and passions. There are many ways to help, including baking cookies, preparing luminaries, leading guests on their tour, assisting with electrical or carpentry work, and more.
Featured volunteer needs for 2025:
1.) Costume Coordinator - The Coordinator leads a fun-loving team responsible for ensuring that Pilgrimage actors have costumes and props needed for all scenes in the Pilgrimage and Pilgrimage Junior.
This involves:
- Working with others to identify the number and types of costumes needed each year.
- Selecting and purchasing (with budgeted funds), the needed costumes and props.
- Scheduling the team to get costumes out of storage (typically the weekend of Thanksgiving)
- Scheduling the Costume Team to help dress actors before Pilgrimage events.
- Coordinating the team's efforts to wash and store costumes once the Pilgrimage events conclude for the season.
- Less time than you might think - we estimate a maximum of 15 hours each year.
2.) Bus Guides - Are you a singer or do you enjoy talking with people? Give God the gift of your voice this Christmas. Serve with the Delmont Pilgrimage as a bus guide.
- Bus guides greet Pilgrimage guests as they board shuttle buses and answer questions about the various stops.
- Leading riders in the occasional singing of Christmas carols is encouraged, but not required.
3.) Luminary Committee Members - The Luminary Committee cuts, fills, sets-up, lights, and picks-up milk jugs on East Pittsburgh and adjoining streets for the Delmont Christmas Pilgrimage. Help with one or all of these tasks as your schedule permits. This is a great way to get your steps in before the holiday cookies are eaten.
- Join us Saturday, November 15, 9:00-11:00am to do the cutting and filling.
- Help set-up and light the luminaries on Saturday, December 06.
- New candles will be put in and lit on Sunday afternoon, December 07.
- Pick-up of milk jugs will occur on Sunday evening after the Pilgrimage.
Ages 16 and up are encouraged to participate!
Note: This makes for a great opportunity for high school students to gain community service hours.
